    The minimum an employee has to earn to be eligible for this scheme is £486 per  month.

  • Will the vouchers affect the employees salary or pension?

    No. Salary is usually not affected. However pension entitlement on retirement is determined by actual pay so the employee’s pension can be affected. However the greater benefit of reduced NIC usually outweighs the affect of pensions paid at retirement.

  • Can reducing the taxable income affect the employee in sick benefit or job seekers benefit?

    Not usually unless the reduced salary goes below £4896 per annum. Otherwise state benefits such as statutory sick benefit and job seekers benefit are not affected as long as the minimum level of NI contribution is being paid.

  • Does it cost the Carer to register with Westminster Vouchers?

    No, there is no cost to the Carer.

  • How many Voucher Redemption Agreements does a carer need to complete?

    Only one voucher redemption agreement needs to be filled in irrespective of the number of children.

  • Can an employee order vouchers for more than one child?

    Yes, however the maximum per employee is £243 per month. Both parents can order vouchers for the same child to the value of £243.00 per month each.

  • Can I cancel at any time?

    Vouchers can be cancelled at any time but we do say where possible to give one month’s notice so payroll have time to make the changes.

  • What happens if the employee is on maternity leave?

    N.I. contributions can affect your Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP). SMP is based on the taxable salary, therefore it is advisable not to take childcare vouchers for this period.

  • What happens if an employee is on sick leave, particularly if long term?

    The employee can opt to take part of the company sick pay in childcare vouchers. However one cannot take Statutory Sick Pay in childcare vouchers.
